  • There is no single schedule. Each seed cycle is different.

    To check soil moisture, stick your finger an inch or two deep; if it feels dry, it is time to water deeply.

    Generally, most plants need about an inch of water per week, including rainfall.

  • This is often caused by overwatering (root rot), underwatering, or nutrient deficiencies.

    Check soil moisture; if soggy, stop watering.

  • Beans, cucumbers, leafy greens (lettuce/ kale), and radishes are popular choices because they require minimal care.

  • Most vegetable won’t grow well in completely shaded areas.

    However, lettuce and peas do well in partial shade during the summer months.

  • 15 to 27 degrees Celsius OR 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Lettuce does not actually like heat, the cooler the better.

  • Perennials

    Make sure you plant them in pots and take them inside during the winter!

  • We are based out of Peterborough, Ontario.

  • We do not have kits specifically designed for homeschoolers, yet.

    Please note our educational kits are based off of the Ontario Curriculum.

  • Currently, our operations are focused on rescuing and donating Burpee garden seeds.

  • We do not have a growing guarantee, as we are rescuing seeds from previous seasons.

    There are too many outside factors that may impede seed germination.

    However, most manufacturers guarantee their product for 1 year.

  • For best results, it is generally recommended that seeds are germinated between 1-3 years.

    If stored in ideal conditions, seeds can germinate between 3-5 years.

    However, seeds can be stored for many years and still germinate.

  • Keep your seeds in airtight containers in a dark, dry and cool place to align with best practices. Basements are ideal for this.

    Some experts recommended refrigeration storage.

  • Yes, but it should be refreshed.

    Mix old potting soil with compost or potting mix to restore nutrients and improve texture, or use it in raised beds.

  • Compost improves soil structure and provides slow-release nutrients, while fertilizer provides specific, fast-acting nutrients. Both can be used together.
